Just read the above review and... wow... this is my brain right now:
:explosion1:
Never going to hear those songs the same way, ever again... there will always be an alternative interpretation to the lyrics after reading that review.
And before I state "I don't think Rainbow intended to put out an album full of songs that question, if not reject, heteronormity", I have to check myself. I have no idea what their intentions were, nor of the intentions of the songwriters, nor of any inner conflicts the songwriters may have been having that may have subconsciously led them to write the lyrics that they wrote.
On the other hand, I don't think "Since You've Been Gone" loses anything if it's taken to be a lament from a gay perspective. There are some things that are universal to the human condition, and unrequited love is one of those.

If it's used as a derogatory term, Since You've Been Gone is certainly Rainbows gayest song... I usually don't use that term derogatory, it just seemed to fit too well right now.

I don't know how i let this slip by the first time, but tying the lyrics to Bonnet possibly being gay (which is just a wild guess in itself) falls on its own absurdity as the lyrics were written by Roger Glover (exept Since You've Been Gone by Russ Ballard).
Just goes to show how important it is for some journalists to force any pointless theory they come up with into an article without really doing any research first...
I would make the perfect journalist... :P

Unless Glover thought Bonnet was gay and wanted to set him up with appropriate material...
... OK, that's a huge stretch and not really Glover's style.
