An incredibly beautiful tune
-
When Axe posted Don't Worry Be Happy in another thread i wanted to post this. What a talented guy. It's so cool to see how he "plays" the mike with his fingers. And the throat harmonics gives me chills each time...
-
Love that song, "Drive", great for the night driving.
And now to random it up somewhat more...

DAMN FINE PERFORMANCE

Play this to a Norwegian, and he/she'll immediately get pictures of snow-clad mountains, more specifically during easter. It's been used for mountain safety infomercials since the 80's.
Beautiful tune...

From the snow clad mountains of Norway, to the mean streets of 1970's New York (Or at least in movieland):

Instead of playing Rugby or Basketball, we used to play what we called "Gangs" at our elementary school (during recess of course), all because of that stupid fucking movie!

That's a great track from a great album. Guess Who had a lot of rock in them on that release that kinda ebbed away over the years.

That's because they were both hangers-on to the Glam-thing Bowie and Bolan started :)

How about some early Michael Des-Barres material? Silverhead:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFKvH9-feg4
I really don't care for the androgynous girly look of those glitter/glam bands from the 70's, but the music was fucking cool!
Reminds me a lot of T Rex. I think it came out on Purple Records back in 1972?

Kinda like Kyuss, but better!

The whole album is great.
Now, *this* song is truly, truly random in the sense that after a point, there's nothing at all random with the lyrics... I was convinced they were Swedish, but they're actually from England...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yiq4ocwQJs
-
I was convinced they were Swedish, but they're actually from England...
I get what you mean. It's like ZZ Top met Queen on an Acid trip, mashing in a good deal of Scissor Sisters ending up with an "intelligent"(ish) The Hives. This is so utterly Swedish it's unbelievable they're not...

So this will be part of upcoming ...And Justice For All deluxe boxset. Previously unreleased Shoreline Amphitheatre show from Mountain View, CA. Sep 15th 1989.
Metallica apparently filmed several shows on the Damaged Justice tour in 88/89 with only the Seattle show being the one that got the official release via the Live Shit: Binge & Purge boxset.
Was lucky to see Metallica on this tour just a few months before Seattle and this Mountan View performance...They were so bad ass back then :headbanger:
-
Is anyone out there familiar with this band?
-
^^^ Cool that. But why do "every" new band have to do that Punk/Metal mix called Metalcore? It's cool and all, but becoming in danger of being overplayed. It's the breakdowns that are cool anyways... ;D
-
Two inctedible(y underrated) tunes from a band that's often forgotten. Much because they do have a good deal of cheeze too...

I was told that the lyrics to their songs were antipolitical or antireligious and the like. Trouble is I can't understand what the guy is saying.
-
Just came across this one by accident:
It's Finland's #1 blues/rock guitarist Erja Lyytinen jamming out with an old blues classic I Can't Be Satisfied...
It gotta say it's pretty darn great.
And here's Erja preforming with Santana last summer:
-
The first really good Iced Earth song in a few years, Incorruptible is their best album since the mid-2000s
-
25 Years ago today the world lost one of it's greatest guitar talents when Criss Oliva passed away in a car accident.
There has never been anyone quite like him, before or after...the sheer passion, love, energy and power that he shows with every single note he plays is uncanny.
You are eternally missed mr. Oliva but never forgotten as your music lives on...
-
I first heard this song when my mom brought home a Clancy Brothers record and played it over and over. One of the first songs I ever learned the lyrics to.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkxuWte_iKg
That verse about the cavalry and infantry was my favorite, although I always wondered if the woman that betrayed him was his wife or a lady he had on the side. And, yes, I wondered that when I was really young, before I even understood *why* a guy would want the company of women in particular...
-
Wait for it...

^ I'm gonna guess she's got an effect on her vocals to get that sound...

Pagey played a Telecaster in this one, didn't he?

An effect? I didn't know you could "effect" a voice that extreme. You mean "I" could be a growler?

An effect? I didn't know you could "effect" a voice that extreme. You mean "I" could be a growler?
I'd imagine just about any vocal effect can be attained with the right filter. Hitting the right pitch without auto-tune, though, that's all on you.

^ That has a lot to do with the song itself. The tension of the 3/4 time and the rolling guitar line support some powerful and poetic lyrics.
And that is a great version, does the song honor! Props to you, Charger!

Latest track from Deaf Radio, just dropped today.
Stylistically, I'd place it both in goth and desert categories.

Honestly my mind was blown when I heard that ... Not only is guitarist briliant but the singer...wowza!

I've always liked Rory Gallagher, but never really got into him. A friend posted this video on FB earlier, it's a song of his I like and I like this version:

One of my favorite mariachi songs, this one written by the great Lalo Guerrero.

Yeah that pop thingy was rather horrible!
Mariachi on the otherhand can always be fun. Not the kind of music I'd ever buy a cd of and listen to but a song here and a song there can be fun.

Some new semi acoustic stuff from Phil Anselmo:
Extremely cool sounding stuff this! Best thing he's done since Down for sure! I still hope Down would make a comeback but if not I do hope Phil would keep this project going.

I have no idea. If there is any serious art in that video it is lost under piles of ridiculousness.

Truly amazing! A musician with no arms plays Mozart's Horn Concerto, #4.
-
Wow. Just... wow. That is amazing and beautiful.

I hadn't heard this one in a long, long time until this morning. A nice piece of mid-seventies pop from a guy who had already been at it for 20 years:

Since we're doing odd stuff here's something I spotted a while ago an quite enjoyed it.
It mixes traditional northen finnish (Lapland) folk music with more current pop vibes and it actually works...kinda.
