Title: RIP Stephen Hawking
Post by: Charger on March 14, 2018, 03:32:19 AM
One of the greatest minds of our time physicist Stephen Hawking has passed away at the age of 76.

Hawking was responsible for a lot of great scientific discoveries and theories that shaped modern cosmology.

He truly was one of a kind.

That's really crappy. Atleast we (the world) was lucky enough to have him around, so we can understand Life, The Universe and ourselves better.

R.I.P

He was popular, to be sure, but I think that if we limit our explorations into physics to mere marveling at the man in the wheelchair, we do ourselves a disservice. He should be a gateway, not a destination.

As for my favorite physicist, give me Julius Sumner Miller!

One of the greatest scientific minds in human history.  Equal to that of Einstein.  Plus he had to persevere through the disease that crippled him.  Truly remarkable.  I think I'll rewatch my recording of "The Theory Of Everything" this weekend.  R.I.P.  :(

A great thinker who clearly had a passion for his work. Although as I type this it is Pi day, I have to note the rationality of his thought process.

Happened to notice this very insightful comment from our beloved OCD when looking for another thread at "the other place"...

Stephen Hawking I hope you repented and asked God for forgiveness, it’s people like you that do the world wrong and a disservice.

Ugh. I guess you can't stop watching the car crash either then?

All scientists must repent! How dare they change our worldview with their so called "evidence" and "math"?

Yes, but existentially, you have to get real and appreciate that the complex concepts he was working with may not seem rational to most.

The man was very smart. You could even say that he was nowhere dense.
