We might need a Beatles section if we get a few more threads about them...
I'll start with Richie Havens' cover of "Here Comes the Sun"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBbXKsKXyNU
Amazing folk re-working of Harrison's classic.

Here's a great one:
-
^ You can tell it's from the Janick Gers era of Gillan, guitar and production are the tells here. :)
Paul McCartney said he liked Stevie Wonder's version of "We Can Work It Out" better than the one The Beatles did. :smug:

Funny I had Gillan's Magic as my workout music today and that was the last song that got played during it...
-
After playing Stevie Wonder, YouTube shot a link to this tune:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpcN5SGZqxE
GOOD GOD THAT COOKS! GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FOR THE BASS MAN'S FINGERS!
Now all I need to go with that tune is a mass choir singing the lyrics and I'll be ready for the warden to flip that switch.

First off; i can't stand when people cover Beatles or Sabbath...
Posted this one before, though...
And ofcourse the best cover ever done..:
-
I love doing Cocker's version of that song for Karaoke. I got his lurching moves and that WUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH down perfect.
Resolved: comedians should not do rock albums. No. They should not. They can do parody albums, but not rock albums.
On the other hand, I love a good funk cover tune. This version of "Hey Jude" is a stone groove, y'all.

One of my best buds hate Beatles-covers even more than i do, and he's not very into Ozzy/Sabbath or Metal at all, but he was very impressed by the first live performance of this...
-
The first version of this song that I encountered, from Elvis' last big hurrah:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8W5jmL6b7k
It was quite a few years before I heard the original Beatles version.
-
Type O Negative got a whole bunch, but i don't bother posting them...
-
I once heard a critic claim that "Something" was the most covered Beatles tune of all. Here's Old Blue Eyes doing it justice:

He said it's the best love song ever written. By Lennon/McCartney... :P

Much better than U2's shitty version

Much better than U2's shitty version
Still shitty, though. I was dreading for when this one came by...
-
Certain bands just shouldn't be covered....Beatles & Floyd being two.
In saying that, I've always liked Joe Cockers With a Little Help From My Friends and a Johnny Farnham's version of Help!
Have no time for Sabbath covers either.

As said:

That being said (weird this haven't been posted yet...)

another one from MKI Purple:

^^^ Thanx for posting, never heard that one before. Don't think it was too good, though, there's better Beatles covers and Deep Purple can also do alot better. But it was interesting to hear. Atleast they're trying to make their own twist on the tunes they cover.
-
I agree, I don't like it much either!
I like what ol' Cov did with this version of "Day Tripper":

-
^^^ That was pretty cool. Funky. A bit annoying that they skip the coolest part of the main riff, though, but one of the better ones posted in this thread.
-
I always liked this version of "Back In The U.S.S.R." featuring Uriah Heep's David Byron on the mic:

Another good one off my favourite BOA album:

Love the Damned's version of Help. +1 on that one. Nugent's cover was not as bad as I imagined it would be, lol.
This talk of Beatles covers reminds me of Utopia's Deface the Music album, which was pretty much a Beatles tribute, but more a tribute to their sound rather than actual recordings. One of my favorites from Utopia.

^^^ If you like parodies you should check out the Eric Idle/Neil Innes "band" The Rutles (if you haven't already).
Too much to pick from, so i'm just linking the wiki-page so you can explore yourself.

(this also reminded me about a song to post on the "heaven't heard in a while")
-
Yes, The Rutles! I have the album with the "biography" in it!
-
Just thought I'd post this one rather than the obvious "Come Together" that Aerosmith also covered:

I love what Sergio Mendes does with tunes when he arranges them in a Bossa Nova style.

Hokey smokes! I found Ella Fitzgerald doing "Savoy Truffle"!

That one really hits the spot!
