Title: The Quiz Thread
Post by: Billy Underdog on February 27, 2018, 08:35:42 AM
Instead of having threads for each topic or ways to play games like we've done before, i thought we could just put all quiz', trivia-games, "which _____ is this" and so forth in the same topic.

As always, this is easily googled, but it's more fun for everyone (most of all yourself) if you try without it.

If you don't wanna play, but still got some good questions brewing, bring 'em on.

Here we go!

Having recently watched the Back To The Future triology again made me think about this two-part question:

Who was originally considered to play Marty McFly instead of Michael J. Fox?

And, as a great part of the first movie was shot with this first actor, the "stunt double" for the skateboard scenes was someone more resembling him (hight, colour of hair etc), and the end result was that it's VERY apparent it's not Fox on that board. Who was the stunt double?

Before his infamous stint as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix and later as the bassist for Hawkwind and Motörhead, the guitarist Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister played with The Rockin' Vickers/Vicars.
They had a gimmick of dressing in the traditional costume of an indigenous people of Europe.
Which people is that, and in which country(ies) do they live?

What experimental rock band is Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller) one of many rumoured to once having played in?

Not only do I know that answer, but there's also fun to be had in looking over the list of people considered for the role of Doc. Albert Brooks is my favorite "could have been" and I can easily imagine his pained delivery as he tries to explain to Marty how he can't know anything about the future.

"Marrrtyyy... I've told you this before! You can't tell me about the future, you just can't!"

What kind of music does David Johansen aka Buster Poindexter enjoy performing the most?

I know the Dolls liked to do blues covers so I'll say R&B?

It's funny to muse, but i'm very glad it ended up with Christopher Lloyd. Back To The Future ARE those crazy eyes. :)

What kind of music does David Johansen aka Buster Poindexter enjoy performing the most?

I know he's very passionate about 50's Rock N' Roll, so i'm going for that.

^^In the meantime while we wait for the correct answer...

Ozzy' has always been synonymous with the peace sign throughout his career but I have seen him throw the devil horns before or Dio horns as I like to refer to them as... Can someone provide photographic/video evidence of Ozzy throwing the horns on at least two different occasions?

Feel free to google away  :headbanger:

^^In the meantime while we wait for the correct answer...

That would have been Eric Stoltz...although the question is flawed...Michael J Fox had the role for Marty locked in but there was some family issue that forced him to leave the production if memory serves me right and then Eric Stoltz was cast but Fox was able to return.

Or if you were referring to the David Johansen question I have no idea who that even is...

As for your question...I do recall Ozzy throwing the horns few times during The Osbournes....

Correct about Stoltz. I guess we're both a bit flawed, as the script was written with Fox in mind, but the family issues that tied him up from shooting the film was the TV-series Family Ties... :P
Now, for the second part of the question; Fox was a competent skateboarder, Stoltz wasn't, so who was the skateboarder doing those scenes? As they were already shot when Fox came aboard, it would blow the budget if they were to reshoot those scenes, hence we ended up with someone who's clarly not Fox. I could give some hints, but that might make it too easy...

As for David Johansen, you should really check out New York Dolls.

About the "devil horns", i don't remember seing Ozzy ever doing them. That does ofcourse not mean i haven't seen it, it just means i don't remember. But i remember several pics of Geezer doing it back in the 70's, one in particular where he's standing on a balcony (which i couldn't find right now), and this one, along with Lennon back in the 60's, also not the only time a Beatle is shown doing it.

So another question; which infamous Beatles myth are those incidents related to?

Haha love it, you googled Ozzy giving devil horns  ;D

I was aware of that particular one and will give you that but there is two much better examples of Ozzy throwing not just a single handed horns but doubled handed horns \m/ \m/

Well I did remember it had something to do with family!

About the skateboarder...I have no idea but Tony Hawk comes to mind...as he is the only skateboarder I know.

Johansen's fave music is *country* blues along with American folk songs. He's got a great voice for the folk music and does very good harmonica work.

My next question: in what movie did Ringo Starr play the hero to a villain played by a former US Football player?

I'll give some clues and say that the two times I know of Ozzy throwing the double horns they were both very public and had a religious association...

Not a very religious setting, though, but did he throw them at the dinner at the white house when Bush said

"Party With the Animals," "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath," "Face in Hell," "Black Skies" and "Bloodbath in Paradise". Ozzy, mom loves your stuff.

No, not that I recall.

One you would've seen, the other I'm. not so sure but millions others would've. The later was quite recent in the scheme of things.

You got one Billy, well done. He posted that on his FB and Twitter two Christmas's ago.

Another clue, the other double horns throw was back in 1988.  *Correctiom* 1988

And your guess is right. (The clue is supposedly that Lennon is holding it over Pauls head, though the truth is he's doing the sign language for love. After all, this was about at the same time as All You Need Is Love...)

I got a question: which musical movement was most closely aligned with the artistic aesthetics of the Vienna Secession movement?

Google and wiki all you want for the answer, it ends with you making a judgment call.

Yeah, that was a momentum-halting question... the answer I was looking for was "goth rock."

Look up Gustav Klimt and you'll see what I mean.

So next question:

Which muralist painted the interior of the National Palace in Mexico City?

We will accept your answer - Diego Rivera!

Now, what famous Russian politician did Rivera offer support for?
