After a year + battle with cancer my brother lost his fight. It hit us all pretty hard especially my 91 year old father. They say losing a child, regardless of age, is one of the worst feelings in the world. He was 62. I'm going to miss him.

Oh man...I am truly sorry for your loss...terrible.
Cancer.....I utterly hate that disease.
I send you and your family all the strength to get past these hard times...can't imagine what you are going through right now.

Regardless of age, yes, it's one of the worst things to experience. All I can do is express my common sorrow and to mourn with those who mourn.

Thank you so much everyone for your heart felt thoughts and prayers. It's been a rough few days but we laid him to rest yesterday (Thursday). Everyone held up pretty well considering the ache in their heart except his daughters. They live out of state so they didn't get to see their father all that much.
Just to try to pull a few positives, the weather was nice for March 1st, the suffering is over and my brother is in a better place. He will be missed.
Thank you again for all of your condolences my friends.

Being able to have a funeral is, in my experience, a necessary step in obtaining closure and peace of mind when death is involved.

A four hour wake the day before the funeral then the funeral the next day is so emotionally draining, but I totally agree, saying goodbye for the last time aids in closure and peace of mind. Thank you for that thought.

Take good care of yourself, you deserve it.

Deeply sorry for your loss. And you're right. A funeral will bring you closure, and allow you that time to reflect.
