Here it is, early Friday afternoon in the middle of the continental United States. It has been, and will continue to be, raining off and on all day. The temperature is relatively cool for this time of year, but will get much, much warmer as Saturday comes into being. A female friend of mine just departed after having stayed here over night...She cooked breakfast and oh man was it tasty! :guitar:
As I sit here contemplating things, I am struck by the realization that this little group of ours has stuck together for a very long time. Obviously during the time this forum has been extant, but even prior to that over at Joe Blow's place. We participate in a communication medium that has been long antiquated, surpassed by the various social media outlets, texting, group meetings, Discord, Reddit, etc. et al. A "message board," AKA a bulletin board system. I happen to like the format, but to each their own.
People have come and gone, some pop in now and again...we talk about things that interest us, most shallow, some very deep. The original impetus for the creation of this place has long since faded into the past, our online origin home having disappeared entirely. But here we are. And I like that. It's a good place to virtually hang out. It has become part of the same ol', same ol' day-to-day for me, and I look forward to many more years of it. Thank you all for being here and being who you are.
I finished installing a GNU Guix system on a machine I had lying around, and I think I'll have some pizza and spend some time learning more about deterministic operating system builds. Have a great weekend!

Much love and well wishes for all of you
Truly this little forum we have here is very important to me
As are all of you
Cheers my dear friends and may this little corner of the internet survive many more years

I miss good old forums...I used to be a member of many..now it's only this and a finnish BMW one...and that is slowly dying as well which is a real shame as it was a great place to exchange information about the cars and find tips for fixes and problems.
I do not have any interest in any of the "social media" platforms like Instagram or whatsuppapp or what ever the hell it's called. I entered discord once but found it so goddamn confusing and difficult to navigate I exited almost immediately.
This place and our little group...well you guys are just awesome. And the only friends I got.
I have to honestly say my life would be a hell of a lot sadder if I couldn't come here and blabber about stuff 'n things with you lot.
I believe we have something special here...

I, also, have never had any interest in social media. I have never been on facebook, have never tweeted anything, and I probably never will. But even prior to the existence of social media, things always seemed to be that way for me. Time and again whatever a large portion of the general population seems to be doing, I have had no interest in. I think it stems from having your own mind and making your own decisions. Reminds me of a lyric from After Forever:
"Is your mind so small that you have to fall in with the pack where ever they run?"
I am fairly comfortable with the Community, where we can converse about different topics with intelligent and experienced people. I thank everyone for being here.
On a side note: If Vyn (aka the chick magnet) would send a couple of these attractive women, that keep throwing thenselves at him, my way, then our friendship might be a bit stronger. Just saying.

Forums are the way to go. Semper forums! :)
I just did some monitor rearrangement to make room for my new toy, a mini-mixing board for doing DJ work. I might be getting active in doing music bingo nights at local retirement communities, which is a fun thing to do. For that, I got a portable all-in-one speaker plus amp. The mixing board is good for my work at KNON as well, now that I've gotten the set-up bugs out of the system.

Well, Elizabeth got returned by the post office. How about Mandy the hairstylist? I haven't been back nor talked to her since I explained things to her, and since I wouldn't have her touch my hair moving forward anyway, how about her? I think she might have mentioned once that she likes gargoyles...

^^^^^^
As long as she doesn't look like a gargoyle.
