I woke up an hour ago. Let me start over. My wife was unable to get up out of her chair at all yesterday. She has needed assistance for about the past three weeks, but yesterday even with that help it simply wasn't happening. So evening came and we had exhausted our own efforts; she was going to get some sleep and try again this morning and call for help if nogo.
Long story short, she just got carted out of here by paramedics and I'm unwinding myself a bit before I get things together and head up to the hospital they are taking her to. Maybe typing this will ease my brain a bit.
Of all the years of fighting this cancer, this morning is the single most gut wrenching by a long shot. She looked so bad. Can barely talk, I had to get in her ear to tell her the ambulance was en route. She shook her head, said no. I told her too late she's going to get health care. The paramedics asked her if she wanted to go and she nodded her head yes, so glad her thinking changed. And you know what she was thinking when she said "no", because it has been discussed.
She's in good hands, but judging from her condition, I just don't know what the day is going to bring.

So sorry to hear your news, Vyn. :(
I know she hadn't been well for a while, but it's always so hard to hear when it finally happens.

Thank you all very much, it means a lot. I'm back home and there's a lull in the activity for a bit, and it is amazing how completely wiped out I feel. Oldest daughter is flying in from FL, should be here in a couple of hours, going to see about getting some shut eye. Heh, not sure I have much choice actually. Anyway, thanks again for listening to me talk about her now and again over the years and being here when it all finally wrapped up for her. She went peacefully.
