Title: DEEP PURPLE new album SPLAT!!!
Post by: Charger on May 07, 2026, 03:26:33 PM
So the new album is coming out in july! I have preordered the Picture disc Double vinyl and the cd!

Can't bloody wait!

Here's a nice little interview from PLANET ROCK RADIO with Ian Gillan! This is only a small edited part but it's still pretty good!

Good teaser - laughed at Ian standing there with arms akimbo, seemingly about to belt out some vocals, and the clip ends...total silence :)

HERE IT IS!!

ARROGANT BOY!!

Now this is fast and furious! Fastest track they've ever done maybe?

Either way sounds AWESOME!

People were happy to purchase entire albums just to get one good song. They would bitch, but do it anyway.

This song is good enough to fill that role, should the remainder of their new album blow slimy chunks.

I don't think it's the fastest tune they've ever done, but I can't think of the others at the moment ;) I suspect our resident DP expert will have the goods.

My DJ software says it's 81.5 bpm, but when I play it and count out the 1-2-3-4, it's actually twice that, 163bpm. Which is right where 7 and 7 Is from Turning to Crime clocks in at. In fact, I can crossfade between the two songs perfectly, that's quite awesome. But they are virtually the same speed. Burn is 188-196 bpm because the band's got different time signatures in different sections and Paice is steady on switching between the two. Blackmore also does a galloping guitar during his solo on that one. '69 is 162bpm, so with a little nudge it can crossfade with this tune and 7 and 7 Is.

Cascades is 160 bpm, so I'm seeing something of a ceiling for Mr. Paice in his autumnal years. He's not playing Burn no more. But that one does seem to be the fastest DP track.

So it's the second fastest Purple track based on science! Well there ya go!

The more I listen to the song the more I like it! If the rest of the album is this good...oh my...we have the Album of the year locked in!

The track is a banger! Simon is such a phenomenal player and much prefer his playing over Morse.

I know the heavy keys are part of their signature sound but I wish they mute Don occasionally. Those keyboards just don’t do it for me these days.
