So RADIO ROCK has done a poll again (been a few years) and this time it was Best album covers of all time. People had about a month to vote.
No list, just write down your favourite album cover.
The voting has now closed and the results will be dropping in every now and then...
Since I've done all the other votes here as well I thought why not talk a bit about this one as well...
At NUMBER 10

I think I'd put this in my top 10 as well...such an iconic and powerful artwork.

Well I had to go back and check OUR Top 10 album covers list and it did NOT make it to the top 10 list...I chose The Last In Line instead. Which is understandable. ;D

But it will be interesting to see if ANY album covers from our lists make it onto this one.

It's a bangin' album cover, for sure. Pretty much indicates what's going on inside on the vinyl, like a good album cover should!

A solid album cover, its "in-your-face" symbolism designed perfectly for its target demographic. Since the guy going for a swim is wearing the attire of a Catholic priest, I always associated it with victims of abuse getting pay back on their abusers.

Great cover, fits the Slayer motif to a T and wouldn't have expected anything else. But not in my top 10 covers...

That might very well be the case...
This next one baffles me though as the album is HORRIBLE and the cover art is ABYSMAL!

Yeah, I never liked that cover either. I didn't mind some of the songs but it's not like I go out of my way to listen to them.

But, yeah, what's going on with Finland? The Dio cover was all right, but these last two are meh. Just thinking of the awesome covers off the top of my head and this Nirvana one and the Slayer one are keeping two better covers off of this list!

It's an iconic cover for sure, and although they have better it was the obvious one to go for.

Again the album is good and I suppose the cover is somewhat iconic but it really isn't a very good one in my opinion.

Rainbow Rising, Master of Puppets, Agents of Fortune, Screaming for Vengeance, Powerslave, Hall of the Mountain King, Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, Sad Wings of Destiny, British Steel, Brain Salad Surgery, Led Zeppelin 3, Fly By Night - all major releases the Finnish Folks should know about and the 13 of them won't fit into the 6 spaces remaining.

I can say that I am almost 100% sure one of those will be on the list....from a band that starts with M and ends with A
But I will be disappointed if Powerslave won't make it..

Would rather have seen Black Flag's "Damaged" cover than the Pantera one, if a picture of a punch was needed. But neither should be on the top ten list.

On 5th place we have yet another one that baffles me quite a bit.

I am not familiar with KISS artworks but I'm sure if you had to choose one from them there would be better choices available...Also there are others that aren't KISS that are 100 times better than this one.

The best KISS cover has to be Love Gun
That Iron Maiden cover is the absolute worst cover of all their albums 😫
Live After Death or Somewhere in Time are so much better

This almost feels like people just typed good cover art (or something) on google and went with that...this list makes no sense to me...at all.

I agree with you that cover is more iconic than good. I would have liked it better if it was just the triangle, rather than a stylized prism. It would for sure be on a top 10 iconic cover list.
Still, at least it's a step (or ten) up from that IM cover.

Surely they’re taking the piss with Dance Of Death. That’s among Maidens worst album covers. I do like the OG Destroyer cover painted by the great Ken Kelly who also did Rising and several Manowar covers, however the Resurrected cover was posted from the 2012 remix and not the OG 76 cover.
This list is pretty bad though

Metallica have never had great covers, bur RtL and MoP are probably the best... but I wouldn't have had either near my Top 10!

This list is so off the wall I really have no clue whatsoever what the top spot will be. Would be cool to see something like Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" or Electric Wizard's "Dopethrone". Always thought they were great album covers. Obviously Metal Tit is a joke, but I'll fall out of my chair if they pick Queens of the Stone Age's "Rated R".

It's a good cover. But it's no Powerslave!
But atleast it wasn't Linkin Park or Queens Of The Stone Age or other garbage.
I do have to say I think Radio Rock needs to change the way these votings work. It's clear to me that one person can vote multiple times and that can create troll voting. IE Dance Of Death.
Ofcourse they can say they're getting a lot of votes this way but it just screws up the results as been painfully evident here...a list that went pretty much totally off the rails.

Meh. Given the nature of the rest of the list, I can't complain. You may be correct about troll voting - I can envision a few idiots sitting around snickering as they blast Dance of Death into the stratosphere, when actually there was only one real vote for it, and even that one was a mistake due to user error.
