Title: Something cool (personal anecdote/memories)
Post by: Scott on September 15, 2025, 04:03:21 AM
So,

I saw Heaven and Hell in 2007. Supported by Down. I was more excited for Sabbath, but being a high school kid I didn't have a huge amount of money. I bought a Down shirt and then kicked myself later for not buying any H&H merch instead.
The Down shirt now sits in my wardrobe. Signed by Phil, Pepper, and Kirk (but it went through the wash when I still lived at my well meaning parents' place).

I don't remember what H&H merch there was other than the three album cover shirts that either omitted the Sabbath name/logo (Heaven and Hell) or replaced it with a H&H one (Mob Rules and Live Evil), but those were the three I was taken with.

A few years after, the Dio store was selling tour leftovers. Passed on them in case they weren't from the Australian dates and/or a lack of disposable income (can't recall).

I'd occasionally see one on eBay that looked like leftover tour stock but it wasn't one of the shirts I was keen on. I periodically kept looking.

Fast forward to 2021. Lockdown during covid. I check eBay. There's a seller selling the Mob Rules and Live Evil ones. No bids at a cheap price. Score! A few months later the same seller sells the Heaven and Hell one but a bidding war erupts.

I'm happy enough with two of three, right? I leave it alone but keep checking periodically.

Fast forward again to a couple of weeks ago. The H&H one is on eBay. Buy it now. I snag it in case it goes and I never see one again.

It arrived last week. All three look like new and I've barely worn them as it is, but for three 18 year old shirts that's amazing.

I'll have to get some pics up.

Funny thing is, since I grabbed the H&H cover one, there have been two more of that and one of the Mob Rules one on eBay Australia. Not in my size though.

Hey that's very cool!

I've got several H&H t-shirts...I bought all of them from the 2007 and 2009 shows plus few from the official store back in the day.

I think I need to dig them all up and take a picture. You inspired me to do that now.

I quite often wear them too.

Thanks everyone!

Charger, I think I'll have to wear these more often.

I'll take a turn sharing a cool memory.

I'm a big fan of the show Taskmaster - five comedians doing crazy stuff and being judged by two other comedians who run the show. When my wife and I took a trip to London, we had looked into getting tickets for a show taping but that wasn't in the cards for us. No worries, we watched the show in the UK with actual commercial breaks and realized we liked it better without them. :D

We went to Stonehenge - a memory of its own, once I walked toward the great stones and was no longer viewing them from a distance - we went in to the museum to see exhibits. We came up to one of them and who should be in front of me but David Baddiel!

Now, if you don't watch the show or keep up with British pop, this is a non-event. My wife and I watched the show, so... event!

I said hello, shook his hand, said he looked magnificent with a colander on his head. He smiled, said he didn't get that compliment often, and we had a bit of a laugh.

It was nice and fun, one of the reasons I enjoy travel, moments like that I can fondly remember.

That's awesome Z! He was great on Would I Lie To You? too, and his own work of course.
