Title: One Final Show - 5th July 2025 - Villa Park
Post by: KiloDeltaCharlie on February 05, 2025, 07:02:26 AM
Just seen this news of a final show WITH BILL WARD! Looks like a 1-day event with a stella line-up!

Some conjecture on-line as to whether Ozzy will be able to do it... but plenty of great acts to see if he can't!

Money generated is going to charity.

I'm pretty sure Ozzy can do one show...even if he'd be sitting down most of the time and sounding horrible. I doubt it'll be a 2 and a half hours anyways...more like 60 to 70 minutes of greatest hits.

Will it be a good show? Well that's another matter all together!

Awesome sauce in a pan! Wish I could be there. That much legend-vibe in one place has got to create some kind of space-time rift.

Ozzy is not looking very good 😕

I hope that they are able to give a memorable performance

I would love to see it live

Well this I suppose was to be expected:

https://blabbermouth.net/news/ozzy-osbourne-will-only-do-little-bits-and-pieces-with-black-sabbath-at-farewell-concert

So Sabbath won't be doing a full show, maybe just a song or two....

Interesting that this announcement came AFTER the tickets got on sale and people were paying several hundreds of pounds for them! I am sure some will feel extremely betrayed here.

This whole thing stinks of $haron's turds...

Yeah, not surprised and agree that the timing involved is suspect. The saving grace for me is that they claim the money is going to medical research, which is cool. Until it comes out that it's only, "bits and pieces," of the money lol.

I had no illusion that Ozzy wouldn't be able to do much. There was no hiding the fact that Ozzy is not able to give the sort of performance he would love to give. A lot of the heavy lifting for the day is going to be carried out by the other acts on the bill... who probably don't come cheap. £200 for the cheap tickets to see THAT line-up is probably a bargain... not so sure about the more expensive tickets!

Hoping there will be some sort of live broadcast, but who knows?
Title: Re: One Final Show - 5th July 2025 - Villa Park
Post by: Charger on February 17, 2025, 02:21:38 PM
Yeah...but that ofcourse depends on how long will the bands play...if it's just like 2 or 3 songs per band then I don't know...

I've seen people paying north of 2000£ for tickets on facebook! What the actual FUCK?!?

Just saw Guns & Roses and Tool have been added to the bill...two more non cheap bands.

I'm hoping the Sabs play a solid set of tunes, even if Ozzy only participates in bits and pieces. Of course, then there's Bill...who knows what kind of shape he's in at this point. Maybe he's been on the ball, or maybe spent too much time with his "drum art" projects and poetry stuff.

27€ for Stream ticket! That's pretty rich...

But luckily it will be available for 48 hours so there's a chance it'll be cheaper after...might check it out...or wait till it finds its way to youtube!

It was a little more expensive than I thought it would be - maybe £15, but it could have been worse. But don't forget $haron has more plastic surgery to fund so we should take that into account! :D

I would guess it will come out on streaming/DVD sooner or later.

A bit on the steep side, but like you said, Sharon need cashflow. It hits me right in the feels, the horrible living conditions she has to endure everyday, being married to a rock and roll singer. Oh wait, a rock and roll singer who is one of the most recognizable personages on the entire planet, has the respect and admiration of millions, with a comparable amount of money. Nevermind, it really just hits me in the bank account, no feelings involved!

So I had to check on the status on the Dio hologram... the gear was huge and costly, difficult to put on a truck and move around, let alone fit into a cramped venue space such as they have in Europe, Asia, and South America. So it's shelved for now.

Well, since Sly Stone just floated off to the great funk mother-ship the other day, maybe a renewed interest in pushing the tech will occur and some miniaturization will happen. Dio vs Sly, Holo vs. Holo!

On a more serious note, I can imagine the initial discussions around the Dio hologram project.

Engineer: "Oh heck yeah, no problem"

Investor: "Take my money!"

Wendy: "The infrastructure is so...big!"

Engineer, counting money: "Yeah, that's what it takes to make it work."

Everyone: "Fuck!"

So we all connected originally because of our love for Black Sabbath, and it’s the reason why I’m here now. I have ordered my streaming ticket and are beyond psyched that I have to just tell someone that gets it  Happy Back to the Beginning everyone. Only one more sleep.

I hope it’s a magical concert and the Sabbs can go out on a high like it should’ve been with Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and friggin Bill Ward. All the best everyone  :pub:
Title: Re: One Final Show - 5th July 2025 - Villa Park
Post by: Charger on July 04, 2025, 08:04:40 AM
Well it'll be a pretty short concert... 4 songs.

I don't know I think the way this was marketed probably will rub people in the wrong way as some were expecting a full show eventhough that obviously was not possible.

Even I thought it might be 40 minutes or an hour but 4 songs...yikes. War Pigs, Iron Man, Black Sabbath and Paranoid is my prediction.

But ofcourse all the other bands will make up for it and most likely we'll hear songs that haven't been played in a long time if ever with Ozzy.

Anthrax will do Sabbath Bloody Sabbath atleast and Metallica Sabbra Cadabra, Pantera probably Planet Caravan and maybe Hole In The Sky and so on...

Interested to see what KK Downing will play and with who.

I won't be buying a streaming ticket but I'm sure it'll come on youtube quickly and I'll catch it from there.

The concert is 10 hours long. Any real Sabbath fan knew Ozzy and Bill wouldn’t be able to perform full sets. Ozzy will do 4 solo songs and 4 Sabbath songs. Just to see them all perform together one last time in their hometown at their age will be special. Looking forward to the whole concert and other bands paying tribute to Sabbath. Especially looking forward to seeing Jake E. Lee perform. Metallica were heard rehearsing Hole in the Sky at Villa Park yesterday and GNR were heard rehearsing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath at a soundcheck at one of their concerts a few days ago which would mean Anthrax might play something else. A lot of speculation and hype about who’ll be playing what and what other special guests will play that have been kept under wraps.

Hi Jack, hope you're keeping well.

I always had a feeling it would be a celebration of Sabbath, with the bonus that the original 4 would perform together one last time. I've been hearing it'll be 5 songs, but I'm not sure where I heard that and may not have been an official source. I suspect that might have been someone being optimistic.

In the UK the show's had more tv/press coverage than the Oasis reunion tour which starts tonight!

It is great to hear that Jake E Lee recovered from the shooting enough to play! Even if it would be just for a song or two.

I wonder will Ozzy do the 4 solo songs half with Zakk and Half with Jake?

Interesting that Metallica's done Hole In The Sky...didn't expect that to be honest. Nor GNR doing SBS...as Scott teased us with SBS riffage a while back already...so I was certain they had that one locked in.

All in all it'll be a festival to remember that's for sure no matter who plays what.

Metallica played Hole in the Sky at Sabbaths RRHOF induction so not surprised by that but was thinking they might've played something else as HITS or Sabbra Cadabra/A National Acrobat might’ve been too obvious. Am hoping Jake at least gets to jam one song with Ozzy but am thinking he might be more part of a supergroup performing several songs.

Honestly, Sabbath playing those four is essentially an encore of encores. If they're only going to play four, play *those*. The other bands in the festival are covering the deep cuts, so let the lads in Sabbath play the signature songs that paid the bills and then some, year in and year out. It just makes good sense to go out with what brought them in.

Set times:

Looks like most bands only get 10-20 minutes which means they'll probably do 2 to 3 songs tops...

I wonder will they do original songs too or only Sabbath tunes? I think it would have to be like 2 original songs and a sabbath tune or something along those lines.

How I would love if someone broke the script and would do a Ronnie or Tony Martin era track! $haron's head would probably explode and earth would be populated by demons after that!

Jake confirmed on his socials this evening that he’ll be performing The Ultimate Sin
and Shot in the Dark in a supergroup. He did mention a few weeks back that Bark at the Moon might be too challenging for him to play these days with his hand issues and he’d see how he went with it in rehearsals. Unfortunately it seems it didn’t make the cut, unless he’s going to perform it with Ozzy.

Mastodon played SUPERNAUT
Anthrax played INTO THE VOID
Halestorm played PERRY MASON now that's a curve!
Lamb Of God played CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE
Alice In Chains played FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS

Supergroup A was:

The Ultimate Sin
(Ozzy Osbourne cover) (with Lzzy Hale) (Jake E Lee, Nuno Bettencourt, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin, Adam Wakeman)

Sweet Leaf
(Black Sabbath cover) (with David Draiman) (Scott Ian, Nuno Bettencourt, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin, Adam Wakeman)

Believer
(Ozzy Osbourne cover) (Scott Ian, Nuno Bettencourt, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin, Adam Wakeman)

Mr. Crowley
(Ozzy Osbourne song) (Video tape of Jack Black singing with young musicians)

Changes
(Black Sabbath cover) (with YUNGBLUD) (Scott Ian, Nuno Bettencourt, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin, Adam Wakeman)

Shot in The Dark
(Ozzy Osbourne cover) (with David Draiman) (Jake E. Lee, David Ellefson, Mike Bordin and Adam Wakeman)

Gojira played UNDER THE SUN

The Drum Off (What ever the hell that means) was SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE
(Tom Morello, Nuno Bettencourt, Rudy Sarzo, Travis Barker, Chad Smith, Danny Carey)

SUPERGROUP B (Featuring the one and only KK DOWNING! and Steven Tyler, Billy Corgan, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Travis Parker, Tom Morello and others)

Breaking The Law
Snowblind
Flying High Again
Rock Candy (Montrose Cover)
Bark At The Moon
Train Kept A Rolling (Aerosmith Cover)
Walk This Way / Whole Lotta Love (Aerosmith/Zepp cover)

Pantera played PLANET CARAVAN and ELECTRIC FUNERAL

TOOL played HAND OF DOOM

Slayer played WICKED WORLD!!!!!

Guns And Roses played NEVER SAY DIE, IT'S ALRIGHT, JUNIOR's EYES and SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH

Metallica played HOLE IN THE SKY and JOHNNY BLADE

OZZY:

I Don't Know
Mr. Crowley
Suicide Solution
Mama I'm Coming Home
Crazy Train

SABBATH played....drum roll.... :drummer: ...SHOCKER REVEAL!

Black Sabbath Intro
War Pigs
N.I.B.
Iron Man
Paranoid

So no surprises there!

So overall not that many deep cuts being played other than GnR and Metallica doing Johnny Blade...oh and Slayer doing Wicked World which I would have never ever guessed as it's the most NOT Slayer style song I could imagine! Can't wait to hear how they made that one work!

One really sad thing I did hear was that David Draiman was booed by some anti-semitic assholes in the crowd...That made me both sad and angry to say the least...I thought Sabbath fans would be above that kind of bullshit but obviously not. And comments on the facebook was pretty disgusting as well but that's no surprise... anti-semitism runs wild over there as everywhere else in social media.

Thanks for that Scott! Good to hear from you as well!

Need to go through more footage later tonight when I have more time but from the bits and pieces I heard Ozzy was in rather good voice in his solo part anyways. Haven't checked out any Sabbath clips yet.

Saw Anthrax do Into The Void and it sounded great!

Here's NIB

It seems that they ran Ozzy's vocals through autotune or something for the stream (which was running on quite a delay) but honestly I don't see much reason for it. Ozzy's sounding all things considered quite good here. I don't think anyone expected him to sound perfect with all that he's been through and is going through so to doctor his voice like that is just stupid. But ofcourse when $haron's involved you can guarantee some form or stupidity going on.

That NIB video, when Geezer is playing the intro, the camera perspective is awesome. Geezer in front, Bill in the back off to the side so you can see him and his kit. A sight that has been sorely missed and perfectly fitting for the end-game of best band to come down the pike!

If they autotune him now, less work for the inevitable streaming/physical release.

He sounded good on the audience videos.
