These guys are the Russian Iron Maiden, practically speaking. They've been around since the mid-80s and were one of the first heavy Russian bands to get noticed outside of Russia. Calling them the Russian Iron Maiden isn't a bad thing, and it isn't a stretch. Consider this one song about a Russian fighter ace, "Ангелы Неба", or "Angel of Heaven". It's got a VERY strong likeness to "Aces High" by way of "2 Minutes to Midnight".

Aria has had a number of personnel changes, but they pretty much all remain on good terms with each other. You'd do well to check out music from the band Master, which is made up of four former Aria members, as well as solo material from Valery Kipelov, a former singer from the band.
Here's their 30 year anniversary concert, with an opening that's a dead ringer for Maiden's "Caught Somewhere in Time", but there's enough difference where I don't complain about them being carbon copies. Fact is, Aria knows how to rock hard and I'm glad I discovered them about 5 years ago.
That's Kipelov on the right in the YouTube title card. Almost all the former members if not all of them got on stage at one point or another and they were all on stage for the encores. DUDE! That's such an awesome way to reunion!
Second song in the concert is the live version of the track I posted earlier, so you should recognize that one.
Anyway, I'm going to post more about these guys tomorrow, so this thread will continue. If you want to look up more of their stuff, search for them based on the Cyrillic spelling of their name, you'll get better hits. Same for song titles, which you'll see in the "more info" part of the live video.
"Колизей" - "Colosseum" just came up in the concert, one of my faves, so I'm going to spend the rest of my evening jamming out with that awesome concert.

Pretty cool. I certainly wasn't expecting a slide guitar solo, maybe that's how they set themselves apart, ha ha.

Yeah, that was a nice touch in the tune. I guess you learn a trick or two in 30 years of rocking. :jimi:
I'm about half way through the concert... "Небо Тебя Найдёт".
Fun Russian to know for concerts: "Spasebo" - Thank you; "Gromche!" - "Louder!"; "Davai" - "Let's go!"
Also interesting to see the variety in the crowd, pretty much Russians from all walks of life in that Moscow crowd.
