Title: Black Sabbath Reaction Videos
Post by: Jack the Stripper on January 31, 2023, 04:10:31 AM
There’s plenty of Sabbath reaction videos on YouTube and the like in which some have been posted on here but this is from a drummers perspective.

I love listening/watching music intellects discovering Black Sabbath for the first time(especially the original era) and realising the greatness that we’ve all known for years.

And the greatness of Air Dance

Pretty cool! One thing I enjoy is when they break the songs down into music theory/terms. So, something I would always describe as "fuck yeah, that's great" gets explained as "notice how they shift from third order Mixolydian to second sub-level discrete-time ghost harmony".

^Same. They’re far better at breaking it down than I could ever be plus it’s good to learn the different terms they use in the music theory side of it.

I subscribed to Andrew Rooney's channel a few weeks back, I also subscribe to The Daily Doug and The Charismatic Voice's channels. They all approach the reactions from a different standpoint, so Andrew's a drummer, Doug is a classical composer and Elizabeth (TCV) is a vocal coach. They make me appreciate the songs more.

Going back to what Rooney says on the video, it probably is true that they were at their creative and musical best best on Sabotage (and IMO SBS), and even though the Dio stuff came close it never quite surpassed those two albums.

I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. They were far more creative and innovative in the 70’s. They streamlined their sound and production in the 80’s. At least after H&H anyway.

Will check out the Sabbra Cadabra video later today.

He also reacted to Megalomania and The Writ recently. Today he did Wicked World.

It's a great version and I presume it's Clufetos on drums, is it the Angelic Sessions? (It's a while since I watched it!)

Always loved seeing these reactions.  The reason I am posting this one from these 2 young men is because they are reviewing the track that I submitted to them myself.  They have already reacted to 4 or 5 other Black Sabbath songs at this point and really love the music, but are still blow away by the uniqueness of 1 of my favorites.
