Digging through some boxes trying to gather up any CDs I might have (ended up finding 22 - more than I thought I had!) and I came across a blank CD.
Not in a case or sleeve, no writing on it - obviously home-made. So I dropped it into my player and turns out it's the...high-rez version of The End that someone had sent me back in the day. Forgot I had it! Hell yeah!
Edited to add...
About 10 of the CDs I have are Sabbath. I'm listening to that blank CD and going through the rest as I am posting this stuff, and WHADDAYA KNOW. I have the official release of The End AND a copy of 13 signed by Tony, Geezer, and Ozzy. DERP Forgot I had them. Sent to me by a long-gone member of the old forums who got them as a surprise for me.
Can't believe they've been relegated to a box in my basement.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE lol
Found my Dio Tournado set with the cert signed by Dio. Number 151 of 1500. Jeez.

Hey that's an awesome find!!
My Tournado is number 187 so we're pretty close! :D
That signed 13 though...nice!

Went through my photobucket as I knew I’d taken a picture of my Tournado set and posted it at the old forum. #242 is mine

Also these photos were sitting next to the Tournado set in my photobucket camera roll. A signed print I bought from the H&H webstore before Ronnie passed and the signed 13 from the tour along with this Iommi signed print which I won in an auction from photographer Mark Weiss and also a limited to 100 signed by Ozzy Obey Shepard Fairey print.
Very happy to have all of them.

That H&H print is awesome!
I bet those Tournado sets with the signed cert have some value to them. Didn't Dio pass away something like mid-way through the 1500 he was going to sign?
This place is surely a distillation of fans, at least three of us have those lol
-
Yeah less than half of them were signed. I think the highest known signed one has been 680.
Some joker on eBay is currently selling an unsigned one for $799USD
-
Yeah that H&H signed print is SUBERB! I wish I had bought one...but I didn't afford to at the time...
Never really thought that Tournado box would have some special value...it's cool but ofcourse I'd never sell mine though.
-
It didn't cross my mind that the Tournado set would end up being what it is. Not having a CD player at the time, I bought it specifically for his autograph. I don't collect those, but have a few and I've always been a big fan. I do recall the old Sabbath site having that thread were folks were posting what number they had. I posted mine, it was a cool idea so that we could have kind of a running list. But of course dipshit wasn't satisfied with simply locking the forums, he had to make them completely inaccessible. A crap ton of great info in there. Maybe he'd feel better about it if he could take credit for all of it.
Anyway, lol...
-
Yeah it's a real shame that all of that great info just went away because of one man's issues...well two men if you count the weirdo who caused it all to go down the toilet.
I also have a signed picture from Ronnie which is on the door of my gun cabinet that I got when I joined his fan club back in the day as well as a band photo signed by them all! I treasure them both!
-
Lesson to us all: go through what's in storage periodically so it doesn't wind up with somebody else on a pawn shop / storage unit / antiques roadshow teevee show!

899$ for a signed Tournado boxset now... Holy moses!

What a bunch of greedy bastards!

Hold up, there was a high-res version of The End? Or was it just a CD-R copy from before a lot of us had a chance to grab it?
I've got a signed copy of The End. The marker Tony used was different compared to that used by Ozzy and Geezer so it looks a bit smudged, still cool as though.

As I recall, BTE indicated it is a CR-R of a hi-rez version he somehow had access to. One day it showed up at my house - but this was AFTER The End was being sold at the shows. If Linda was around she'd know for sure, I know she posts on the Hoffman forums, will have to see if that had been discussed or not. I get a sneaking feeling that what I have is just a CD-R of the actual release, but I haven't tested it or anything.
That's pretty cool that Tony used a different marker; the one I have they are all in silver.
-
Spurred by Scott's question, I pulled the tracks from both the CD-R and the legit copy of The End into Premier Pro and yeah, the CD-R I have isn't "hi-rez".
Both were converted to digital using a 44.1 kHz sample frequency with a 16 bit quantization.
The .toc files on both are identical - that CD-R was without doubt copied from a CD of The End someone got from a show.
-
I'll have to get a photo of mine so we can compare. It's definitely not the same marker as Ozzy and Geezer's.
