Digging around for my funk/soul show, came across this gem:
This is some HEAVY guitar work, especially for 1971. At the time it came out, everyone was calling it stuff like Funkadelic meets Black Sabbath. I knew George Clinton was experimental in his approach, but I did not know that he experimented with proto-metal tunes. This one's well worth checking out for how much cross-influence there was in music back in the day.

Delving more into Funkadelic's work, Michael Hampton and Gary Shider also come to the fore as guitar geniuses. I'm glad I found these guys. They do excellent work, well worth checking out.
