Just was watching this Discovery documentary series about this guy travelling to the deepest parts of each ocean with his specially built submarine (didn't even knew it was possible!) and documenting what he finds and he found this totally unknown and undocumented creature:

Java trench...some 7000m below the surface...
And that's just one of many that are down there that we know nothing about...who knows what's down there...there could be some giants we know nothing about...other than giant squids that is...

Just goes to show how life, once it gets going, will fill all kinds of niches in a world.
