Title: A New Year
Post by: Vyn on December 28, 2021, 12:10:53 PM
Anyone have big plans for celebrating New Year's?

Mrs. Vyn and I don't, which is par for the course since she can't walk anymore. However, I received a bottle of Herradura Ultra Cristalino Añejo tequila and a bottle of Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Extra Añejo as gifts so we're going to do a taste test!

It's many years since I went to parties for New Year's. In more recent years I usually just spend the evening with the girlfiend. But since her dad and then my dad died in 2019 we now just spend the evening with our respective mothers.

When 1 Jan is on a weekday, we stay up late at home and have a bit of a family game or movie night.

But when we got church at 9am the next day, maybe we go with an Eastern time zone point of reference for when we call it a midnight.

Nothing much different for me...the same old...sitting alone watching tv with some beer and bourbon then shooting up 10 fireworks and have a cigar and more bourbon and be done with it...

The only real difference is that I'm probably forced to drink bit less than past years because the pain on the following day might get bit too much otherwise...other than that same old misery as every year before...but on the positive side this might very well be my last ever new year.

Well, if there are some good album releases this year, that can certainly take the edge off of a lot of hard days.

Still in 2021 over here, I'm checking with my calendar's tech support to see if that's a fault with their product or if it's working as designed.
