Title: Christopher Lee
Post by: Zzzptm on September 30, 2021, 07:21:26 AM
Saw him yesterday in The Three Musketeers - hadn't seen the movie since I was a kid, so I wasn't aware that he was Richelieu's one-eyed guard. Great role for him... did some reading on Mr. Lee and found out a very colourful past.

He served as a British volunteer in the Finnish Army - he didn't know how to ski, so he was sure he'd have been killed if he'd gone to the front.

He later served in the SAS' precursor in the desert war - he only ever said that he had served there, and would say no more of it. However, there's more than one story about how he had some good notes on what happens when someone gets stabbed and how they should act to make it look realistic...

And when he started acting, a producer once said that he was too tall to be an actor!

PROTIP: If Christopher Lee is in your movie, tilt the cameras up a wee tiny bit and he'll be fully in frame! :D

IMO, Christopher Lee is the most underrated actor in movie history.  :drama:

I love Sir Lee and I always thought he was pretty well recieved and well respected. Sure I guess he didn't become a HUGE star though for some reason...might have been his hight then! :D

I love his Hammer Horror films. One of the greatest actors to be  in movies of the macabre.

He's definitely underrated and I think that's why he's turned up in 5 Tim Burton movies.

Were they ever all three in the same film?

Yes they were.

In a movie called House Of The Long Shadows from 1983:

That is correct, plus a movie called Scream And Scream Again which I have in my Amicus Films collection.
