Yeah, but with limited appearances and stuff like that. Old is old...

And did you know he was also a session player in New Jersey back in the 50's? He played the trumpet, so that got him a lot of gigs in studio backup bands. You can barely hear the trumpet on "My Boyfriend's Back", but that's RJD tooting away on it!

McCartney is 77 and still touring playing 3 hour shows.

Quite true...however Metal is much harder to do than soft rock...and Ronnie never half assed on stage...

Yep but a lot of the Beatles and Wings songs are still quite demanding though and he's also lumping a bass around.
3 hrs on stage for a musician playing an instrument at 77 is quite incredible let alone singing as well.

Oh indeed. That's a mighty long show.

That's Paul McCartney, he's a lucky one. Bill Wyman had to retire from the Stones, John Lord had to bow out of DP, Bill Ward is his own special case, Tina Turner is retired, Bob Dylan is on the back burner, and Donald Fagen even takes it slow these days.

10 years already...

WOW!

Find it hard to believe really.

Today I'll be only listening to his stuff and thinking about all the times his music and lyrics touched me...

I remember waking up and reading the headline on the BBC website, shocking news even though I knew he was ill. 10 years... no time at all.

RIP Ronnie

RJD's music and his "fan first" approach made him an icon. Combined with his philanthropic efforts, they made him a legend with a legacy that will reach far beyond today.

That anniversary crept up on me, I usually remember in advance.

He'd be 79 now and probably still singing flawlessly. Such a shame.
