Just for fun / Re: Weather Topic!

A little more than half the snow has melted.  The forecast is for several days with highs 10 to 15o above freezing, so the rest of the snow should be gone by then, except for the large mounds that the plows and snowblowers created.  Those take extra time.

The Gentlemen (2020)

When an American (Matthew McConaughey), who has built a highly profitable marijuana business in London, decides to sell and retire, interested parties begin to plot and scheme their way in.

A good mix of violence and humor made this film a worthwhile watch.  It started out weak, but finished strong.  8/10

Small Time Crooks (2000)

An unsuccessful crook (Woody Allen) along with his wife (Tracey Ullman) and gang (Michael Rapaport, Tony Darrow, Jon Lovitz) strike it rich when a botched bank job's cover business becomes a spectacular success.  But now they all find it a bit difficult to be happy living with high society types.

Amusing and enjoyable story by Woody.  8/10

Homegrown (1998)

When 3 laborers (Billy Bob Thornton, Hank Azaria, Ryan Phillippe) on a Northern California marijuana plantation see that their boss (John Lithgow) has been murdered, they decide to conduct business as usual.  Things get rather complicated when they realize that their boss had not only been dealing with a rich client (Jon Bon Jovi), but also a mob boss (Ted Danson).

Fine character acting with a good mix of drama and humor. 8/10

Ingrid Goes West (2017)

Lonely Ingrid (Aubrey Plaza) becomes obsessed with a social network star (Elizabeth Olsen) who seemingly has a perfect life in California.  But when Ingrid decides to drop everything and move west to be her best friend, her obsession turns unsettling and dangerous.

Excellent acting by Plaza in a difficult role.  8/10

The Ozzy Years / Re: A Sabbath Magazine

^^^^^^
Update:  I found the magazine you displayed in the Barnes & Noble book store.  I bought it for $24.  It does not have any ads in it.  If my conversion calculation from euros to dollars is correct, then they are overcharging at $32.

The book store did not have the Classic Rock mag of Sabbath.  They were already displaying the next issue.   I have not checked back at the supermarket, however.

Did that one have advertisements in it?  If it did, then that would be super expensive.  Even without ads, that euro price is $32.  The one I have was $15, although yours has 72 more pages.

The Ozzy Years / A Sabbath Magazine
« on: February 26, 2026, 04:21:51 PM »
There is currently an issue out by Classic Rock magazine titled "The Complete Story Of Ozzy & Black Sabbath."  I saw it at the checkout stand at the supermarket, of all places.  This is the front cover.

It is full of great pictures and information covering the journey of our favorite band.
Articles include:  Interviews with all 4 original band members.  How each of the first 6 albums came about.  Ozzy's solo years.  How the band lost Ozzy and recruited Dio.  The final concert.

What struck me was there are no advertisements in the entire 100 pages.  Here is the back cover.

I think it is a great collectors item to have.  It says in the fine print "Display Until 03/02/26".  If anybody wants one but can't find it, let me know and I'll try to grab another one.

After a day and a half of hard labor, finally able to get around.  This was the highest snowfall in my area since they have been keeping records.  I got about 2 feet, while nearby areas got close to 3.  I think that every muscle in my body is sore right now.

Like this winter hasn't been bad enough, my area is now under blizzard warning from Sunday night to Tuesday morning.  With about half of the snow from the previous storm still lingering, there could be another foot or more falling on top of that.  But my main concern is the high winds that accompany a blizzard, which increases the probability of a large tree falling that could damage my home or property.   :squint:

The Red Baron (2008)

The story of the brief life of Manfred von Richthofen, who was the best fighter pilot of WWI.  He was officially credited with 80 air combat victories.  He and his fellow pilots become cult heroes for the soldiers on the battlefields not only for their tremendous skills in the air, but for their sportsmanlike conduct and code of honor.   Before long the Baron begins to understand that his hero status is deceptive, but his love for a nurse, opens his eyes to the brutality of war.  9/10

Just finished 1923, which is the series that leads into Yellowstone.
I enjoyed both, but I would give the edge to 1923.  :drama:

When a recently orphaned girl moves in with her grandparents, she tries to befriend a sick, bed-ridden boy next door, despite his mother’s strong objections. Her persistence leads to a friendship, but during secret visits, she uncovers dark secrets in the boy's home.

The Great Global Warming Swindle (2007)

A documentary exposing the man-made climate change hoax.  Throughout the film, many climate scientists present their facts and evidence which went against the narrative that man's activities were warming the planet.  Attempts made to silence and smear these exerts is covered, as well.  The film also reveals the huge profits that were made, and who made them, from pushing this hoax.  It just goes to show that some people will say anything to make a buck.  9/10
